Scientists Developed Instant Artificial Blood Substitute

Scientists Developed Instant Artificial Blood Substitute

Romanian Scientists from the land of Dracula have succeeded to make breakthrough in their efforts to make artificial blood.

It comes as no surprise that this new innovation comes from a country whose Transylvanian region is famous around the globe for being connected with blood sucking vampires. Scientists have said that they are about to take on with human trials after conducting experiments on mice for past 6 years.

So called artificial blood is a mixture of water, salt and Hemerythrin, a protein extracted from sea worms. Hemerythrin is the distinguishing feature between this experiment and earlier tries of making artificial blood as earlier attempts used hemoglobin, a red cell protein for transfer of oxygen.

Hemoglobin was not a success in earlier attempts because it failed to bear the stress caused when injected into an organism. After getting a nod from national authorities, Romanian scientists are going to start human trials. They have claimed that after complete success this innovation shall be provided in market in the form of “instant blood” which can be converted into real blood by simply mixing it with water.

Natural Body Hair Getting Popular Among Women

UK Medix company has conducted a survey, the results of which turned stunning. It has been found out that many women stopped removing hair from their private parts because today men prefer partners with body hair. If this is true, then companies making millions on hair removal products, as well as beauty salons, will soon suffer great losses.

The survey revealed that 51% of British women do not make intimate haircuts and do not expose themselves to the procedure of bikini waxing or any intimate hair removal.

45% of women said they were no longer concerned with removing unwanted body hair.

Moreover, 62 % said that their partner preferred women with natural body hair.

The trend is common among celebrities. Gwyneth Paltrow and Lady Gaga admitted that they did not torture their genitals with painful procedures and preferred to look natural.

Among those women who still pay attention to the intimate hairstyles:

    33% choose a razor;
    15% use a depilatory cream;
    27% prefer salon waxing.

10 Best Career Tips

Climbing up the career ladder is a highly unpredictable progress. It depends on the person’s social background, but only so far. Researchers say that personal abilities and intellect have little to do with promotion. Can we pinpoint the key factors that can really help us come up in our profession?

Of course it is not easy to give advice on those matters because personal promotion often hinges on the multifarious intricacies of inner politics, yet there are some tips that will certainly lend strength to your aspirations.

1. Make your career responsibility of yours

Don’t wait until your superior will start making plans about what to do with you: dismiss, lay off, or send to a training course. Perform as if you have career uppermost in your mind, especially when the going is good. Make it felt to everyone around you that you are bent on making it to the top.

2. Treat every business conversation as an interview

Everybody with whom you discuss business will form an impression of you as a professional and may bruit it about. Make sure no conversation is fruitless, and that you zero in on the other fellow and not on yourself.

3. Put your best foot forward

Why waste your time trying to disguise your weak points, when you can show your worth and enthusiasm?

4. Never go overboard working

Don’t make yourself out a workaholic, it won’t work in your favor. Workaholics run the risk of burning themselves out and tiring out those around them achieving less than could be expected because of their very pressure. Actually, people with work and rest balanced are known to be able to achieve more.

5. Self-Management

Self-management and awareness of how you look and what you are doing are very important. You must keep your values in mind, be aware of what you think and how you feel, what impression you produce on others, be able to hold your thoughts and emotions in check if they take you outside your work commitments.

6. Control your conversation

See to it that you don’t use the word “I” too often, always let the other person express themselves fully before you take your turn speaking.

7. Avoid being unemployed

Should you get dismissed or laid off, immerse yourself in some other work or activity; don’t stay idle even for a day. Don’t let your skills get rusty while you are waiting for a great chance that may come late. Even if the pay’s not good enough, it’s still better to be engaged than to sap your confidence waiting.

8 Show your intellect

The amount of your knowledge is second to your ability to display it to your advantage. People should find it easy to work with you because you don’t show off your superior knowledge.

9. Promise less, deliver more

When you dish out awe-inspiring promises, it may dazzle and grasp the imagination, but the impact will be short-termed. Settle for long-lasting impressions, which are created by employing kindness, self-effacement, and a desire to be of service.

10. Get an advisor

ind a person who is not working with you with whom you can share your hopes and fears, and take advantage of their impartial judgments and views. It ought to make you calmer and more inspired.

These should work as everyday guidelines for a sustained effort, augmented with daily strategies that you work out for yourself on the ground of the current state of things at work. Push on and make your ardor noticed!

Permanent Eye Color Change in Just 15 Minutes

Surgeons have come up with a unique surgery for those who are tired of the color of their own eyes. It allows changing the color of the iris by implanting an artificial one.

People with brown eyes often dream of having blue eyes, and gray-eyed people dream of the green iris. Until recently, these people could realize their dream only with the help of special colored lenses. But first, the achieved effect of eye color change is temporary – as long as the person is wearing the lenses. And secondly, the scientists have recently found out that colored lenses are often a real danger to the eye.

American surgeon Dr. Kenneth Rosenthal of the Island Eye Surgicentre clinic in New York invented the technology of implanting an artificial iris, due to which anyone can change the eye color to the one he/she needs. For many years, and not just for a couple of hours. The procedure itself involves 2.8-millimeter corneal incisions and installation of silicone implants.

Doctor Rosenthal needs just about 15 minutes for the surgery of each eye, so patients can theoretically change the eye color during a lunch break, especially since the procedure is performed under local anesthesia. However, a full recovery lasts for a very long period of one to two months. The surgery has already been conducted in various hospitals across the U.S., and its arrival in Europe is only a matter of time.

The artificial iris can be implanted not only for cosmetic reasons. You can use it to correct various eye disorders including heterochromia – different iris color of the right and left eyes or unequal coloring of different parts of the iris in an eye.

Heart Size Reduction to Treat Heart Failure

American scientists have developed a new technique for the treatment of heart failure by injecting a substance that can reduce the size of the heart. This technique can theoretically save hundreds of thousands of lives.

The author of the study is an authoritative expert in the field of cardiology Dr. Roger Hajjar, who works at the Mount Sinai hospital in New York. He has already tested the drug successfully on laboratory mice. His technique is based on the use of gene therapy called SUMO-1, which is capable of reducing the hearts, increased due to the illness. Reducing the size of the heart can improve its performance and increase the blood flow.

Heart failure is the inability of the heart to pump enough blood. The disease can be treated but not cured, and it is chronic.

Dr. Hajjar and his colleagues found that SUMO-1 gene is a missing link that does not allow the heart to return to normal functioning. The scientist believes that SUMO-1 gene therapy should be used primarily in the treatment of heart failure, and especially its most severe forms.

By the way, it is the second type of gene therapy in Mount Sinai. The first one is called CUPID, and it uses SERCA2 gene, necessary for the production of the enzyme which removes calcium from the cells. The gene is delivered into the body by means of a harmless virus. The therapy has already gone through successful clinical trials on animals and humans.
